PC Repair
PC Aid is a friend to your computer. We strive not to slow people down, but to speed you on your way! We will take every effort to preserve your personal data. We do ask that you place all of your PC Discs near your computer. Especially the following:1) Operating System disc(s) or
2) System Restore (from the PC Manufacturer).
3) Any other software disc (s) : MS Office, Corel Word Pefect, Corel Draw, CD Write software, etc. Any software that came with the computer or that you added since buying your PC, we ask that you locate, preserve and store these discs near the computer or in a place that is readily accessible upon the tech's arrival.

We will locate all your personal files and back them up temporarily in the event we have to wipe your hard drive clean. When we wipe the hard drive clean it is similar to washing dishes. For instance, when you wash a plate, it is your intent to get every crumb or germ, etc. off of it then clean it and sanitize it before putting anything else on it. The PC Technician will do the same thing with the platters on the hard drive.
The tech will try to repair any bad files on the system and as a last resort the technician will completely wipe the hard drive and re-install the Operating System, the Office (Word, Excel, etc), Acrobat, CD Write Software, etc., but prior to wiping the hard drive, the technician will try to save your personal files to an external drive or a CD/DVD.
Note: Keep in mind if the technician has to repair files on your PC as opposed to wiping the hard drive clean, it could take a while (1-4 hours or more).
Keep in mind that the Tech may be dealing with one thing or a combination of two or more things. Do not assume that the problem will be fixed in 30 minutes or less. It could take a while to fix your PC or it could only take a few minutes.
If you want the tech to tell you whether or not it is worth it to fix the PC, tell him/her before they turn on the PC; For instance, if you simply want the tech to analyze the PC and then give you a summary, please inform him/her before the work actually starts. Once the tech actually starts working he/she will work until the PC is repaired or it is determined that the PC can not be repaired by the technician. If you don't want the technician to actually attempt to repair the PC, then say so before the work starts!
